Now, normally I'm not one to hide my feminism and I'm super pro-woman in a myriad of ways. That said, "The End of Men" (!?) is the tagline for this article. Don't get me wrong, the empowerment of women, increased educational achievement and employment possibilities bring a smile like none other, but the exclusion of the male gender should be seen not as success, but as a red flag.
With the example of South Korea, introducing women into the manufacturing worlds spurred growth and empowered women with not just because someone or a NGO said so, but because it was financially absurd not to. Well, folks, if we simply insert women and exclude men, the supply chain won't be bolstered and equality will not have been achieved.
So, let's celebrate the achievement of women, new flex time at our places of work, and equality in all areas of our lives, but let's not forget what it felt like to be without power or place. Perhaps after years of working to assist anorexic and lost adolescent girls, we should turn our hands to adolescent boys and their confusingly changing identity in this complex little world of ours.
